Trip to northern Greece

Took 2 days off add the weekend and drive 1500Km (there and back) to northern Greece at the city of Kastoria .

After a brief (on line) search I went and bought a new mountain bike.

Actually my "oder" bike was bought from my parents when I was in high school so I suppose that it doesn't count.

Bluetooth Stereo Headset

Yesterday I got birthday present ! a Plantronics Pulsar 260 Bluetooth Stereo Headset
I didn't have the time to fiddle with it but I'm pretty impressed with it the A2DP works very well with my SE W710i in comparison to a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 that I tried from a friend that couldn't handle the transition from music playback to voice call.

Test cases to complete 1) connection to more than one phones 2) connection to the PC for Skype and DVD play back

Didn't like it , complicated , mixed , without a clear target to it's meaning.

The soundtrack is also said to be something special and for sure has a contribution to the movie atmosphere but it's not enough.

Went to a theater after many - many years.
Watched this abovo , it's in Greek by the way.

Lost

Can we count the new episodes of Lost as the last night movie ?

I'm not (I think) hooked on it but I do want some answers from this series.

Also I'm not sure if they will provide the answers but up to now the series has kept our attention. Probably has something to do with watching them downloaded with no interruptions/commercials.

New mobile phone

Ok I'm a bit techno freak ….
The V360 had 1, only one, problem (after all these firmware updated) that was bothering me and it couldn’t be solved with a monster pack or a seem edit.

It didn't have a radio!
So I was looking around but all the phones that meet the requirements were to expensive but then I found an add on www.myphone.gr for a nice SE W710i so I grab it !

The normal street price of the phone is 100 E more than what a V360 or a L7 is asking so the difference is obvious but still the value/money of the little moto is still unbelievable.

Of course I'm not throwing away the 360...

The Illusionist (2006)

Not as clever as the Prestige but a nice story and well worth the money for a Saturday night to the movies.

Mount the image directly into the filesystem using the lofiadm and mount commands

Given an ISO image in /export/temp/software.iso, a loopback file device (/dev/lofi/1) is created with the following command:

lofiadm -a /export/temp/software.iso /dev/lofi/1

The lofi device creates a block device version of a file. This block device can be mounted to /mnt with the following command:

mount -F hsfs -o ro /dev/lofi/1 /mnt

These commands can be combined into a single command:

mount -F hsfs -o ro `lofiadm -a /export/temp/software.iso` /mnt

Nokia Siemens Networks is live at the 3GSM World Congress.

Apart from the nice logos bla-bla focus to the bla-bla customer this merge-join venture-shell (I really don't know how to call it) has effect ,good or bad, on more than 50.000 people (and me :) ) and their families all over the globe.

NOW THIS IS GLOBAL ECONOMY.

I also liked a part from the first magazine publication:

Personalization, which is the underlying premise of successful mobile data services, requires providers to meet the varied information needs of individuals. Instead, they need to build a ‘killer environment’ that can support different kinds of applications.”

As an engineer I'd love to build the environment , as a customer I'm not sure that I'll be able to afford it !

Laberinto del Fauno, El (2006)
aka "Pan's Labyrinth" - (English title)

Nice, good atmosphere, pictures, no special meaning or message.
It's a pity to compare it with the Das Leben der Anderen , as it will lose hands down IMO

Windows Inventory

Windows Inventory is my friend.

This is the main screen with 747 systems scanned.

Setup is actually very simple as long as you have a box with the usual web staff (apache, php, sql).
Of course you need admin rights for the scan which is based on vb scripts but they are there for free and you can fiddle as much as you like.

What I liked the most is the structure of the data base I'd really like to have it "merged" with our Nagios db ....someday
